Material Spotlight: Ceramic

Hudson Valley Lighting Group elevates the standard use of ceramic material in our designs.
Since the beginning of civilization, Ceramics have captivated man, taking many forms to serve both beauty and function over time. Composed of earthenware, stoneware, or porcelain, ceramics are formed, either by hand or in a mold, and then fired up in a kiln. At Hudson Valley Lighting Group, our design and engineering team pay special attention to innovative forms and finishes to deliver ceramic lighting designs that continually raise the bar. Timeless craftsmanship paired with modern silhouettes and forward-thinking finishes make our collection of ceramics arresting in every way.

Working with ceramic materials has its advantages. Being able to craft unique forms tops the list, allowing interior designers to bring organic yet steadied shapes into their spaces. Ceramics aren’t limited to table lamps, the Treman Pendant features a fluted shade in a glossy white finish.

Not only do ceramics allow creativity in form but also in finish. Mitzi’s Gillian collection uses color playfully, featuring glossy finishes in classic cream or robin's egg blue. Mixing ceramic with a more modern material like metal provides the perfect contrast for light fixtures in all shapes and sizes.

Kelly Behun’s collection for Hudson Valley Lighting leans into the organic modern aesthetic, featuring bulbous forms in smooth matte finishes. Drawing on the spirit of French sculptors of the ‘40s, Behun’s portable collection marries unusual and contemporary ceramic forms with classic and traditional accents.
